If you have ever had acne, then you know how hard it is to accept it. You keep imagining how you’d look without it and would do anything to get rid of it. People would always tell you basic things like “But have you tried drinking lots of water?” or “It’s a shame your face is gorgeous… but that acne!”. Little do they know the amount of research and information you’ve gathered, recipes and things you’ve tried just to get rid of the acne, you can practically become a dermatologist! (Jk ofc!)
My Acne Journey
I was just like that, a teenager with acne who has tried every method on the internet to get rid of them. Some did nothing, some have worked in the short-run, but none of these remedies have helped me get rid of my acne once and for all. I’ve also had a dermatologist for years who would always recommend me some creams, and they did work for a while, but then the acne would always come back.
My issue was that I had mild acne, and just how easy and fast I used to get rid of them, they would always return just as fast. So after trying tons of face masks, some home remedies, and acne creams (The most effective ones listed down below), I knew I needed to find something that would help me get rid of my acne once and for all.
One time the lady who was doing my graduation makeup told me that she also had some acne and got rid of them by taking Roaccutane pills. I went to the same dermatologist she recommended to me, got prescribed the pills, and then started taking them. And finally, after months of using these pills, I’ve got rid of my acne and they never came back to this day!
So, What are Roaccutane Pills?
Roaccutane pills, also referred to as “Isotretinoin” belong to a group of medicines called “retinoids”. They are used to treat acne by reducing the oils of the skin. It is widely known that the majority of people who suffer from acne are those who have oily skin. And these pills help reduce these oils, which reduces bacteria and inflammation and opens up clogged pores. (Click here to read the full article about Roaccutane from NPS MedicineWise).
Needless-to-say, these pills have a couple of side effects, some are mild (which was my case), like dryness (in and out, so you have to keep moisturizing your whole body and drink tons of water!) and some back pain. But other side effects can be severe and more serious, like extreme mood swings, depression, etc… Also, these pills cannot be taken without a doctor’s prescription as they can be very dangerous and cause some serious permanent damage to specific people with specific conditions. So make sure you talk to your doctor before even considering taking Roaccutane pills.
However, if you are someone who is eligible for taking these pills, then I highly recommend them. They not only treat face acne, but also your whole body acne.
Yes, it is a long process with serious conditions that you’ll have to follow, but it is 100% worth it and you won’t regret it. I know I don’t!
(Roaccutane pills will not be linked in this article as it’s highly advised to get your doctor’s prescription – with your personal recommended doses).
Till next time, xoxo
